Friends! It’s been way too long. I’ve missed you all, and our (digital) gatherings around The Yellow Table. I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this space to become, and I wanted to check in and give you all a little update.

Life has changed a lot for me in the past few years since I last posted. We had a second baby, moved from Brooklyn to Nashville, and - like all of you - have been living through a global pandemic. Evie, my firstborn, is now a bright, bubbly 5.5-year-old kindergartener, and Grayson is a sweet, funny 3.5 year old preschooler. (Where does time go?!) During the past few years, I’ve mostly been in mom-mode (having babies 2 years apart turned out to very full-time job!) but I’ve continued to find ways to write and share recipes, mostly through Instagram, and my weekly meal planning service, Yellow Table Weekly. The blog sat dormant for a variety of reasons - partially a lack of time, partially some technical difficulties. And partially a fear that maybe I didn’t have anything worth saying anymore.

I discontinued Yellow Table Weekly earlier this year, and have been thinking about how I could best use my gifts of writing and recipe creation during this busy season of motherhood. I thought about how much I’ve missed having my own creative space, and being able to write longer-form essays (rather than short Instagram posts). I thought about how much I missed being able to share recipes in a searchable format, so you can come back to them again and again. And I thought about Yellow Table Weekly, and how much I loved helping people answer the question: “What should I cook this week?!” And it hit me: I could do all of these things in one space, via the old-school Yellow Table blog.

This blog has meant so much to me. It’s been a sacred space for me to grow and evolve, to share stories and recipes, and most fun of all: to connect with you all! It has grown with me, allowing me to document countless yellow table dinner parties, my (kid-free!) years in NYC, the creation of my cookbook, and my early motherhood years. It’s provided me a space to share interviews and travels, dinner party tips, photos, recipes, life lessons, and so much more.

I’m so thrilled to be able to connect with you all in this space again! My life looks a lot different now than it did when I first started the blog, so you can expect the content on here to reflect that shift. Less dinner parties (especially given Covid!) and more personal essays. Lots of family-friendly recipes, some baking projects, as well as healthy salad-y stuff that my kids would never eat but that I love. Ha.

Here’s what to expect:

  • What to Cook This Week: A menu of 5 simple, seasonal recipes posted every Friday - recipe inspiration for the following week (so you can grocery shop over the weekend), along with prep-ahead tips. Initially, these will be pulled from my recipe archive, but I’m going to keep adding in new recipes regularly that will be included in these meal plans.

  • Essays: This is my space to share what’s on my heart: life lessons, funny stories, definitely some motherhood reflections, and cooking adventures as well. Very excited to have a space to write again! My goal is to post once per week.

  • Seasonal Recipes: What I’m cooking lately! My goal is to post 1 new recipe per week.

  • Newsletter: You can sign up for a newsletter version of what’s new on the blog each week! More on that soon…

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey! And I’d love to hear from YOU! Let me know in the comments below what you’d like to see more of on the blog in the coming weeks/months. I want this to be a place that you love to visit often, for recipes, inspiration, and hopefully encouragement. Excited to hear your thoughts :)

XO

Anna
